How to wash a swimsuit by hand – Step-by-step
Washing your swimsuit is done in 6 easy steps:
Fill your sink or basin with cool water and add a couple of drops of gentle soap or detergent.
Submerge your swimsuit in the soapy water and let it soak for a few minutes.
Gently rub the fabric together to loosen any dirt or debris that might be stuck to the fabric.
Rinse your swimsuit thoroughly in cool water until all the soap is gone.
Wrap your swimsuit in a clean, soft towel and gently press to remove any excess water.
Lay your swimsuit flat on the drying rack to dry
1. Fill your sink or basin with cool water and add a couple of drops of gentle soap or detergent.
Start off by filling the sink or basin with water. Always use cold water as hot water can damage delicate fabrics.
Then, add a couple of drops of gentle soap or detergent. Make sure that whatever detergent you are using is made for swimwear, otherwise, it might damage your swimsuit.
If you don’t have any detergent that is made for swimwear, you can use mild soap instead.
Make sure that whatever cleaning product you are using is dissolved properly in the water.
2. Submerge your swimsuit in the soapy water and let it soak for a few minutes.
Once the water is prepared, put your swimsuit in the water-filled sink or basin.
Let it soak for a couple of minutes so that the dirt and grime can start to loosen.
3. Gently rub the fabric together to loosen any dirt or debris that might be stuck to the fabric.
After letting your swimsuit soak, it’s time to wash it. Start by gently rubbing the fabric in a circular motion.
Make sure you are not too hard on the swimsuit, only just hard enough to actually wash it. Don’t twist or wrinkle the swimsuit as this can damage it.
4. Rinse your swimsuit thoroughly in cool water until all the soap is gone.
Once you’ve rubbed the swimsuit to wash it, rinse it off with clean, cold water.
You might need to rinse it a couple of times to make sure all the soap is out. Again, don’t twist your swimsuit to get the water out but rather gently press it.
5. Wrap your swimsuit in a clean, soft towel and gently press to remove any excess water.
Once you’ve rinsed your swimsuit to get all detergent or soap out of it, it’s time to remove the excess water.
The best way to do this is by wrapping it in a clean, soft towel and gently pressing it. Be careful not to wring or twist the swimsuit as this can damage it.
6. Lay your swimsuit flat on the drying rack to dry
Lastly, to let your swimsuit fully dry, lay it flat on a drying rack or other flat surface. It’s likely that your swimsuit will drop, so be careful where you leave it. Don’t leave it over your wooden floor!
